Brown & Weinraub Welcomes NYS Department of Health Veteran Lauren Tobias
Experience in Public Health and Medicaid will Assist Existing Health Clients and Attract New Business
In its continued commitment to expand services and its client base, leading NY lobbying firm Brown & Weinraub has hired Lauren Tobias who most recently served as Director of the Division of Family Health in the Office of Public Health at the state Department of Health (DOH).
As Director of the Division of Family Health, Lauren supported COVID -19 Emergency Response Efforts with an emphasis on maternal and child health employing her years of experience managing policies, programs and funding. Her prior experience at DOH includes leadership roles within the Office of Health Insurance Programs (OHIP), where she gained expertise in Medicaid funding and Redesign, and the Office of Health Systems Management coordinating regulations, policy directives, legislation, and budget initiatives. Earlier in her career Lauren advised the Majority Leader and members of the NYS Assembly on all areas of health and human services.
Lauren also has worked in the non-profit sector as Director of Policy at the Schuyler Center for Analysis and Advocacy setting strategic direction on efforts to expand insurance options, improve perinatal and child health and wellbeing, as well strengthen social safety net programs. In a similar role at Family Planning Advocates of New York State she managed analysis, public affairs and policy programs. In all of her professional experience Lauren has interacted extensively with community organizations, health care providers, advocates and associations throughout New York State.
A resident of Delmar, Lauren earned a BA in History at Muhlenberg College and an MPA with a concentration in Health Policy at Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy.
