Phase 2 Provisions and Social Justice Demonstrations

As Governor Cuomo continues to hold daily briefings, the content is focused on reopening of additional regions of the state and progress through phases, as well as social justice demonstrations and related developments. Today, the Governor reiterated the importance of monitoring key indicators to avoid a resurgence of illness.

Yesterday, Governor Cuomo issued an executive order extending provisions applicable to Phase 2 businesses such as allowing for outdoor seating at restaurants and directing workplaces to operate at 50% capacity. This follows a weekend directive that allows commercial buildings to deny access to any one refusing to wear a mask.

The Legislature returned to Albany yesterday and passed a series of bills aimed at increasing equity in policing and implementing other reforms. During his press conference today, the Governor announced his intent to sign the bills.
